FAQ

Plain-language answers

Are my IRA deposits at Evertrust FDIC-insured?

Yes. IRA deposits at FDIC-member banks receive separate insurance coverage of up to $250,000 per depositor, per institution — in addition to your regular deposit coverage. A traditional IRA and a Roth IRA held at the same bank are aggregated for this separate $250K limit.

Can I roll over my old 401(k) into an IRA here?

Yes. We accept direct (trustee-to-trustee) rollovers from 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), SIMPLE IRA (after 2 years), and SEP-IRA accounts. Direct rollovers avoid withholding and mandatory 20% income tax. Ask a branch banker for our rollover instruction form.

What is the penalty for early CD withdrawal?

Early withdrawal penalties vary by term. CDs under 12 months: 90 days' interest. 12–36 months: 180 days' interest. 37–60 months: 270 days' interest. Penalties apply only to the amount withdrawn, not the entire principal. Hardship exceptions may apply.

Can I hold both a Traditional and Roth IRA?

Yes. You may contribute to both in the same year as long as combined contributions do not exceed the annual limit ($7,000 or $8,000 if 50+). Income limits apply to Roth contributions but not to Traditional IRA contributions (deductibility may be limited).

Does Evertrust offer brokerage or securities?

Evertrust Federal Bank is a depository institution — we offer FDIC-insured deposit products including CDs, money market accounts, and IRA deposit accounts. We do not sell securities, mutual funds, or annuities directly. For market-linked investing, we can refer you to a licensed independent advisor. Deposit products are not insured by SIPC.

How do I get my IRA statement for tax filing?

IRA statements are mailed by January 31 each year (Form 5498 by May 31). You may also access year-end statements and 1099-INT / 1099-R forms through online banking. We can provide duplicate statements at any branch at no charge.
